Germano Wanderley
Architect and teacher. Studie in Hamburg, Siegen and Berlin. After 1866, he was active at the state technical school in Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein. One of his colleagues was Eduard Wilda, who founded Brno’s German technical school in 1873. Wanderley accepted Wilda’s invitation to join him at the new school, where he taught from 1875 until his death. Additionally, he served as city building commissioner (appointed 1898), acted as an expert on important municipal construction projects, published professional treatises and worked as an independent architect. His late historicist buildings are typical examples of the use of red unplastered masonry and light decorative stuccowork. During his career, he designed numerous apartment buildings (often in collaboration with the builder Johann Zoufal), several public buildings in Brno and Svitavy, and a number of agricultural complexes in Lower Austria.
