Černá Pole 1946–1989

The most prominent architectural feature of the district of Černá Pole is the complex of the Children’s Hospital designed by Bedřich Rozehnal, whose works of the early 1950s represented the final act of functionalism in socialist Czechoslovakia. The exceptional design of this architectural work was even acknowledged by Le Corbusier. A must-see feature of the trail is Villa Tugendhat, which is a UNESCO monument. Here, it is worth recalling the reconstruction of the 1980s, whereby the State Institute for the Reconstruction of Historical Towns and Buildings managed to protect the essence of the monument for future generations. On Fišova street, you can see the first prefabricated panel building in Brno, which is based on the Zlín model. The trail also leads past the terraced and atrium family houses on Lozíbky street and to the Černá Pole Housing Estate around the square náměstí SNP. From there, you can take a tram that connects you to the Lesná trail.
