Apartment buildings

B174

The apartment building at Třebízského 12, characterized by a mix of late historicism and Art Nouveau, is a prime example of Husovice’s excellent architecture from the time before the First World War. The two-storey apartment building’s five-bay facade is strictly symmetrical, with a broader and slightly projecting central part where the entrance is located. It is vertically articulated by the use of pilaster strips made of banded rustication. The windows on both floors are visually joined within tall vertical frames rendered in rough plaster, and the apron walls and window pediments are decorated with reliefs. The area beneath the first-floor windows is decorated with stucco vegetal festoons. The rhombus motif, a characteristic feature of geometric Art Nouveau, can be found on the pediments above the first-floor windows and in the fanlights on both floors. Also noteworthy is the restored entrance door with its typical tall square fanlight. A cartouche on the facade contains the date 1912. The building recently underwent a complete renovation, during which the Art Nouveau facade was relatively sensitively restored. Unfortunately, the renovation also introduced a garage and a modern dormer window with a balcony.
