Maximilian Leopold Matzenauer
Graduate of the German state technical school in Brno (1889–1893). As an independent architect after 1900, he realized numerous apartment buildings with distinctive vegetal or zoomorphic Art Nouveau décor – not just in the city centre (where large-scale demolition in the late 19th century created a large number of empty building plots), but also in its growing suburbs. Named chief building commissioner.
